Posting pics of your firearms on GIM - bad idea?

Was thinking of posting a picture or two (or three), but am not sure if it would be unwise or not. Thoughts?

this is done all the time on some of the weapons forums. may not be such a great idea here, but I'm generally for it. fun to see all the tricked out toys.

It's fine, just use common sense. Edit out serial numbers and don't include things in photos that might give away more information than you want to. I wouldn't even worry about the feds, we're all on their watch list already. They watch us, we watch them.

Why on God's earth would somebody want to do this? It would be foolish IMO and what can possibly be gained? A lot could be lost down the road.

What could possibly be the reason for it being dangerous other than posting pics where your serial number is clearly visible? You already registered your gun with the NICS database !!

Excellent point !! Also, if you want to post old pictures of a gun you sold or a friend's gun, what does it matter? There is no Federal gun registration...yet

Sometimes you have to sacrifice security for liberty.

If you have a bigger gun, they may not bother you.:D

Hah! That pic is a classic. A hot chick with a Century Arms SAR-1 hanging over her shoulder. It's even got the postban, unthreaded barrel and cheap-ass U.S. made plastic pistol grip. You gotta love it...
